- Open it from Applications. It is notarized by Apple, so it opens like any app.

- Open Narrate. Setup takes a minute and asks for each permission only when you turn its feature on.
What it does
Books, PDFs and the web
Open an EPUB, a PDF, a Word file or a link, or pick from 70,000 free books. The sentence being read is highlighted, and you can pick up where you left off.
Read like a narrator
A small model plans each sentence's pace, pitch and pauses the way audiobook narrators read, so a chapter sounds like one performance, not a list of sentences.
Anything you select
Select text in any app and press a shortcut (Mac) or tap Share (Android). Or have the screen in front of you read aloud.
Messages and calls, out loud
Hear WhatsApp, Messages, Slack and calls as they arrive, each in a voice that fits. On the Mac it also tells you when Claude needs you or a long build finishes.
200 voices, your style
Pick a voice, a style and a speed, and fine-tune pitch and expressiveness. On the Mac, save any book as an audio file for your phone or the car.
Private by design
The voice runs entirely on your device: no account, no internet needed to speak, and nothing you read is sent anywhere.
Verify your download
The Mac app is signed with Whissle LLC's Developer ID and notarized by Apple. The Android app is signed with Whissle's release key. To check a file, compare its SHA-256 checksum (shasum -a 256 FILE) with the one below.
